About Us

Hi, I’m Joanne Hope.
For the past four years, I’ve been on a deeply personal journey of learning and discovery through my incredible child, who is autistic—or as some prefer, neurodivergent. Before becoming a parent, I had experience working with neurodiverse children, but I never truly stepped into their world until it became part of my everyday life.
Joining a wonderful local neurodiversity support group was a turning point for me. It opened my eyes in ways I never expected. The more I learned, the more I realized how complex and beautifully unique every individual truly is. There’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to neurodiversity, and that understanding moved me deeply.
At 42, I received my own diagnosis of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder)—and wow, it was life-changing. Suddenly, everything made sense. I’d spent years attributing my challenges to dyslexia or to being deaf and wearing a BAHA cochlear hearing aid. But ADHD helped me connect the dots in ways I never had before. It felt like discovering a missing piece of myself.
Creativity runs in my family. I’ve been machine embroidering for years—a passion that started with my beloved Nanna. When she became unwell, she lovingly passed the family’s sewing and stitching duties on to me.
As I became more involved in the neurodiverse community, I kept hearing the same stories: not enough inclusive, sensory-friendly clothing options, or children going through shirts rapidly because of fidgeting or chewing habits. These stories touched my heart, and I knew I wanted to help.
That’s how Diverse MMX Clothing was born. We design stylish, sensory, and functional clothing that meets the real needs of neurodivergent individuals—without sacrificing fashion or comfort. Every day, we’re dreaming up new ideas and adding thoughtful features to our collection.
The name Diverse MMX represents the Diversity and Equal Opportunities Act of 2010—MMX in Roman numerals—because we believe in inclusion, representation, and celebrating every unique mind and body.
